Vancouver Community College Infographic

Lively + Energetic Design

While I was an on-call graphic designer at Vancouver Community College, I was asked to create an infographic the college could use to showcase their overall stats. We had just completed a rebrand on the design of all promotional materials, so I used this as an opportunity to create a lively design with an energetic feel.

Student Point of View

To make sense of all the statistics and numbers given to me, I first created a logical order and storyline. I decided to focus the story from the students’ point of view and loosely developed a chronological order based on the school year and the arc of completing a diploma/degree.

Traveling from before enrollment, through their studies and into the work-force post graduation. Where do students come from? What languages do they speak? How old are they? What programs do they take? How many get jobs after graduation? How many enjoyed their studies?

Award Winner

Gold: Infographics, 2014 MarCom Awards

My design won Gold in the infographics category of the 2014 MarCom awards.

MarCom Awards is an international creative competition that recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communication professionals. Entries come from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, PR firms, design shops, production companies and freelancers.

The Gold Award is presented to those entries judged to exceed the high standards of the industry norm. Approximately 23 percent were Gold Winners.

Still Used Today

I created this design in 2014 for use for the upcoming school year. The design is still currently in use on the Vancouver Community College website and has been updated for the current year with new figures.
